Pour les street photographers, les moyens de locomotion font partie intégrante du cadre urbain dans lequel ils cherchent à capter des instantanés de la vie de tous les jours. Selon le choix du photographe, ils sont alternativement décor ou sujet principal. Certains les prennent en photo directement, pour leur esthétique, leur graphisme ou encore leur caractère pittoresque ou historique – on pense aux « eléctricos » de Lisboa, aux gondoles de Venise ou aux black cabs de Londres -. Ces sympathiques éléments qui amènent des couleurs ou de la nostalgie dans les rues sont photographiés à tout bout de champ par les visiteurs de la ville. Ils peuvent aussi faire l’objet d’un regard subjectif sur l’espace urbain, voire d’une réinterprétation poétique.
For the street photographer, means of transport are an integral part of the urban setting in which he likes to capture snapshots of everyday life. Depending on the photographer’s choice, they are alternately the setting or the main subject. Some photograph them directly, for their aesthetic, graphic, picturesque or historical character – one thinks of the «eléctricos» of Lisbon, the gondolas of Venice or the black cabs of London.
